She also has training in acupressure, deep tissue therapy and is currently in school at CITCM to become a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Dr.Ac.TCM). Tanya has also completed the Chinese TuiNa Massage Program through CITCM.
Tanya is passionate about alternative, preventative healthcare and she believes that simple changes can bring profound benefit to ones life.
As a healthcare professional, Tanya loves to show people how they can achieve a state of pro-active health. It is this passing on of knowlege that is her passion, and her relaxation massage workshops and the information she passes on to her clients both in person and on this site are important ways in which she helps people to find healing and well-being.
Often Tanya finds that some very simple techniques have life-altering affects on her clients’ body, mind and spirit. Connected Couples Massage Therapy Workshops is offered by her to reconnect and care for couples. She is delighted to be able to show them how easy it can be.
Tanya says “I love to teach – to give people control over their own health. People are always amazed to find out that it can be easier than they think, and many of my clients have experienced real improvements to their health”.
For her massage therapy clients, Tanya uses a combination of both Relaxation and Therapeutic massage as well as both Eastern and Western techniques . This is done to improve the flow of energy (Qi) through the body, allow muscles to relax and help relieve tension.
Tanya practices massage out of Mount Royal Health Center www.mountroyalhealth.com. She also sees patients as a Student Acupuncturist out of CITCM's student clinic.

Shelley Benson
Hi - I'm Shelley Benson. Currently, I'm in my 4th year of study at CITCM. I was previously a dental assistant. I became interested in TCM because of health issues in which western medicine had nothing to offer. Through TCM - my health has improved.
Upon graduating I plan to run a general practise in Medicine Hat, Alberta. I plan on treating patients with chronic diseases, infertility, and all other health issues that may arise. Helping people on their journey towards wellness is a personal goal.
My interests include being active in things like - rollerblading, biking, going to the gym and lifting weights. Spending time with my family, friends and cat are most important to me.
I look forward to putting my past two years of knowledge into practise at the student clinic. If I can help you with your health issues - please call the clinic at 520-5258.

Tonya Coutts
Hi, my name is Tonya and I am currently in my third year of study of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I am an active individual that enjoys integrating new ideas into my practice. Learning Chinese Medicine is a fantastic experience!
I began my journey as a TCMD with an interest in nutrition and diet therapy. I felt that my years as a Chef would enable me to impart simple variations in an individual’s meal planning and enable self healing. Acupuncture, I have found, enables the body’s natural healing functions; improves immunity and regulates emotions. Throughout my studies I have also incorporated Auricular Therapy into my practice. My certification in auricular medicine (ear diagnosis and treatment of the whole body) gives my patients an alternative to acupuncture needles and has the benefit of prolonging treatment effects.
I feel that my enthusiasm, commitment, open mind and patience will be a benefit to your health.
To book an appointment with me, phone (403) 520-5258 and ask to book with Tonya Coutts
