Bachelor’s Degree of TCM Program is a five year program which is designed for students to learn not only acupuncture and TCM, but students will also learn basic Chinese dialogue as well as basic reading and writing skills in Chinese. Shandong University in China provides credit toward a Bachelor’s Degree of TCM based upon successful completion of the Dr. of TCM Diploma program at CITCM. Students in this program will first finish their first four years of education at CITCM. These four years are recognized by Shan Dong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which will allow students to go to China to have one full year of clinical practice in the Teaching Hospital of Shan Dong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The internship involves 1200 hours of clinical practice through which students can experience a hospital setting of acupuncture/TCM practice with a more variety of different diseases, styles and methods of practice. Continuous training in first four years of Chinese language gives students in this program the opportunity to communicate with local doctors and patients more directly.

Upon completion of the program, you will receive your Bachelor’s Degree from the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Jinan, Shandong Province, China. Chinese Medicine Program for Medical Professionals is designed for people who are already in medical practice, such as physicians, chiropractors, naturopathic doctors, or other medical professionals such as physiotherapist, who have already completed basic biomedical science courses and have practiced as a doctor or health care practitioner in different health disciplines. It is for doctors who are interested in incorporating acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine into their current practice, and for doctors who have moved to North America from overseas who are interested in a career as an acupuncturist or Chinese Medicine doctor. We also offer selective courses to health practitioners to upgrade their studies in acupuncture and TCM that provide an opportunity for them to meet the Alberta provincial exam required hours for acupuncture registration as an acupuncturist. (Approval of eligibility to write the provincial exam is on individual basis with the register of Alberta acupuncturists at this time).
