Our faculty members have chief instructors as Ph. D degree holders in acupuncture and TCM with extensive teaching, clinical and research experiences, and are joined with a diversity of health care practitioners such as physicians, naturopath, dentists, chiropractors and physiotherapists who loves teaching and have a holistic and integrated approach towards their practice.

Students will be receiving three diplomas as Dr. TCM diploma, acupuncture diploma and Chinese tui Na massage diploma as they finish their four years Dr. TCM program or acupuncture diploma and Chinese Tui Na massage diploma after finishing the three years acupuncture program or just Tui Na massage diploma after a one year study. Most TCM schools offer a Doctor of TCM diploma program with 5 years of training. CITCM as a year round operating school (10 months of study a year), students are able to finish the program in 4 years with the excess of hours needed to meet the criteria to write the provincial examinations and meet with the standards of NCCA criteria.

The curricula of both the Acupuncture Diploma Program and TCM Doctor Program offered by CITCM meets or exceeds the regulation requirements of Alberta, British Columbia and the United States. The curricula is based on five years TCM university training in China with sufficient training hours: 2900 hours for the acupuncture program and 4007 hours for the doctor of TCM program.

We also provide an unique interactive multimeida E-study system that includes question banks, case studies, and discussion forums for effective communication to ensure questions are answered in a prompt time frame. Sequential interactive self-testing review will keep students' learning direction. This helpful tool also allow us to ensure quality distance learning education.
Besides, we have a mature team to support your technical questions, and online discuss system to answer students’ question on time. High-speed server, advanced computer system are used to avoid lagging.

Dr. Cheng has developed a series of course materials and text books designed for easy comprehension of Traditional Chinese Medicine by western students. Her materials are exclusive to CITCM and will be invaluable reference materials for her students in their studies as well as their future practices.

Students have the option of multiple clinical settings for their clinical experience choosing from BodyMind Synergy Health Centre (Calgary), the Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (China), the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (China) and an on site student clinic (under the supervision of a registered acupuncturist).

As part of our curriculum we assist students to create a viable business plan for their future practice.

A study trip to China for three month is in our curriculum as optional but strongly encouraged. You will be learning in a TCM hospital, which has all the updated medical facilities, and with 3000-5000 thousand of outpatient flow daily and with an inpatient department as over 1000 of beds. You will be study under instructors with traditional treatment styles, as well as TCM doctors specialized in different fields such as internist, gynecologist, pediatrist, gastrologist, cardiologist, and oncologist as you wish to learn from. The hospitals for the study trip will be the teaching hospital of Chengdu University of TCM, teaching hospital of Tianjing Unerversity of TCM and Beijing Hospital of TCM.

Small class sizes allows focus of hands on training as well as one on one interaction with teachers. Throughout the program, the goal is to empower students to establish a life long learning style and optimum professional competency.

Extensive Chinese herbal training gives the student confidence and the ability to prescribe the most effective individualized herbal prescriptions for each patient.
